Starting Over

I've done it a few times throughout this journal's life, and I'm doing it again: I'm starting all over again. I've deleted a large chunk of my less meaningful posts and set most of the rest to private. I've also deleted all of my friends. If you still use LJ and still want to be on my friends list, just leave a comment and I'll add you again. I mean no offense by any of this.

I probably won't use this journal as a social thing any more - just a blog. If I make contacts, that's wonderful, but as it is I feel like I have plenty of online friends, so I'm not going to force it.

Here we go again.

This is Neil Gaiman's downstairs home library. It's what I imagine heaven to be like.

There's an epic storm coming. I'm so excited. I'm one of those few people who has no in-built fear response to extreme weather. I can't wait.

Been extremely busy. Real update coming in the next couple of days. But before I forget:

There are a lot of fellow Aussies on my friends list - do any of you happen to remember reading the Tomorrow series by John Marsden? They were YA novels about a bunch of teenagers who went camping for a night in the Outback and came back to their small town to discover that Australia had been invaded and all their families and animals and such were dead/gone. They were really, really popular. I'd be surprised if I was the only one of us who read them and loved them.

Anyway, I just miraculously remembered them tonight, so I did a search to see what info I could find and I discovered something very interesting: they're making a movie. I can't say that I remember enough of the books to know if they'd adapt to the screen well (I was about 11 when I read the series), but I'm kind of excited anyway. I definitely need to hunt the books down and revisit them. And I need to read these newfangled "Ellie Chronicles", too.

Anyway. It's 4am. I'd better sleep.

I'm done with Nox. And now I'm going to share my opinions on it.

Nox reviewCollapse )

Look, the game wasn't terrible. It didn't give off those "terrible game" vibes. You know what I mean. But God, did it ever frustrate me. Maybe I'm just bad at this. I don't know. This game does have a lot of fans, so maybe I just suck. Eh.

I was going to add something about how disappointed I am in how many Australians seem to think that the matter in my last post was okay, but you know what? Screw it. There are certain people in this world who just can't see past their own noses, and that's never going to change. Time to move on and accept the sad truth: sometimes, this country does live up to the bad stereotypes.

I've been having a really busy couple of days. Jamie's parents have come from New Zealand to visit him/us, so I've been flat-out entertaining them. Mum and Dad are off to Hawaii for two weeks to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, so I'm in charge of the house. And Jamie's kind of living here while they're gone, so most of my time is being spent with him. Not complaining about that, of course. It's just keeping me really busy.

And now that Jamie's gone home for a bit to shower and whatever, I'm feeling a little bored. The impossible vacuousness of the Emmy red carpet has replaced Dexter on TV tonight, so I hardly know what to do with myself. If I had longer I'd sit down and try to finish BG&E, but I probably only have half an hour, so eh. I guess I'll just... omg it's Flight of the Conchords! And they're saying three of their songs will be on Rock Band. That's awesome.

...Do Guitar Hero controls work with Rock Band?

I mentioned in my previous entry that I was playing The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Well, I'm done with it.
